ELEMENTARY SPECIALS

The JAES curriculum program enhances student learning experiences through a balance of innovation and best practices. Students may work with a computer-based program to improve their reading skills, learn about history through art, or develop math skills by playing an instrument. And these are just a few of the diverse ways our students learn!

Art

Our art program, led by Mrs. Melanie Raubenstrauch, allows students to be creative while providing first experiences with a variety of art mediums including chalk, pastels, watercolor and acrylic paints, torn paper, pencil and ink, and paper mache. Take a peek at what your child has created in our halls or on our online gallery.

Parents: Did you know you can order keepsakes and gifts of your child’s art? Simply set up an account at Artsonia and start shopping! Artsonia will donate a portion of your purchase price to support the art program at our school.

Music

Music provides students with a strong foundation for language and rhythm. Studies show it also improves memory and auditory processing skills. From reading music to choral singing and instrumental lessons, Mr. Don Trenn leads our music program. We hope you’ll join us for our next grade-level music production!

Physical Education

Students receive one hour of physical education per week with Mrs. Gina Schreiber. We expect all students to participate in physical education at their ability level. Students should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers for class.

Field Trips

Occasionally, our teachers will schedule class trips off school grounds as an extension of student learning. All trips will be educational in nature and may require additional adult supervision. If you would like to be a part of our field trips, please contact your child’s teacher. All children must have a form of medical or accident insurance before they can participate.
